Álvaro Cunha & C^a. Lda., a garment company set up in July 1985, has its headquarters in Oliveira de Santa Maria - Vila Nova de Famalicão, in the District of Braga, a region easily accessible by road, the A7 Highway in particular.

We specialize in sportswear, namely:

• T-Shirts
• Sweat-Shirts
• Jogging Pants
• Jogging Suits
• Polo Piquet
• Polo Sweat-Shirts
• American / Italian fleece, interlock, jersey, double jersey and piquet garments, for men, women and children.

Most of our goods are exported to the EU and other European countries.

From the outset, we have been engaged in an ongoing and progressive course of action that has led to the verticalization of our production process. With that aim in view the company has invested heavily (and continues to do so) in different sectors of its manufacturing plant. Primarily, those of weaving, dyeing, finish and make-up, which occupy an area of 9,000 m2 out of an overall area of 20,000 m2.

Today, we have some 100 employees working directly at the plant, while creating dozens of jobs by outsourcing. To increase the efficiency of the company's human resources, bringing them up to speed on the latest technological advances, and meeting the market's constant demands, we have developed and currently put in place various training courses.

Mindful of the market’s increasing demands and in line with the company’s quality policy, steps were taken to obtain NP EN ISO 9002 certification from SGS ICS – International Certification Services. This was finally awarded in April 2002. The dyeing sector has also been certificated since March 1996, and the make-up sector since April 1998, in accordance with the Öko-Tex Standard 100.

Likewise, with the environment a crucial issue, the company has invested heavily in this area. We have therefore put in place the following systems: "Energy Recovery System", "Wastewater Recovery and Treatment System", and installed a "Natural Gas Cogeneration Plant".

On the same lines, we are now in the process of obtaining NP EN ISO 14001 environmental certification.
