Throughout recent years, Francisco Banha, Gesbanha's CEO and the main drive behind Venture Capital in Portugal, has defended his concept (publishing books, opinion articles, seminars and even a Master's thesis) that the Portuguese economy and, consequently, its entrepreneurs, have not benefited from the advantages inherent in an efficient Venture Capital industry.

Aware of the excellent opportunity the current new technologies market affords, Gesbanha has set up a joint venture (Gesventure - Desenvolvimento de Novas Tecnologias, Lda.) with a leading French venture capital raising company - Chausson Finance - to facilitate startups' financing processes in the Portuguese market.

For the past four years, Chausson Finance has raised more than Fr 230 million's worth of capital, from venture capital investors, thereby enabling the development of 31 startups.

The aim of this partnership is to bring Chausson Finance's accumulated experience to the Portuguese marketplace and take advantage of its access to certain specialized funds investing in these projects.

Gesventure leads the first Business Angels Club in Portugal. Its objective is to bring together entrepreneurs looking for capital and investors looking for good investment opportunities.
