Medinfar, an exclusively Portuguese-owned pharmaceutical company, was set-up in 1970.

In recent years, the company has implemented a focused investment strategy policy. The successful outcome of this strategy is evident in increased production, product diversification, the nurturing of development projects - our own and those in collaboration with other enterprises - and in a firm commitment to Quality.

In 1996, our turnover was PTE 4 billion, thrusting us into 25th place in the ranking for our sector in Portugal.

Aside from our core business of providing the General Medicine, Cardiological, Gastroenterological and Dermatological areas with products, a major slice of our business is focused on OTC drugs and in equipment to hospitals and clinics.

When, in 1995, Medinfar acquired Laboratório Sorológico - the oldest Portuguese company producing animal-care drugs - we also began to branch out into the veterinary market not only with vaccines but with other drugs and equipment.

We are also proud to have been the promoters of an initiative created to stimulate and reward the careers of young researchers within the EU.
