| HISTORY OF THE COMPANY | ||||||
Although Robbialac paints were sold in Portugal around about 1926, by an English, Lisbon-based, importer called W.B. Mitchell, bringing in Jenson & Nicholson paints, it was only 1931 that marked the start up of Sociedade Robbialac, Lda., giving rise to the current TINTAS ROBBIALAC, SA. Since then, and up until the end of 1999, Robbialac has been part of some major groups, such as Jenson & Nicholson, Berger, Jenson & Nicholson, Berger Paints, and Williams PLC. At around the end of that period the company started to globalize by acquiring Duraval, a prestigious Spanish paint company. This in turn led to the creation of the Robbialac Group. In December 1999 the Robbialac Group was acquired by a new organization formed by:
Later the new company became known as NOVA ROBBIALAC Ð INDòSTRIA IBƒRICA DE TINTAS, SA. Another stride forward for Robbialac, Portugal's favorite paint, looking to future challenges with confidence. |

For more than 4,000 years Man has dedicated himself to architecture. Going from cave-dwelling times to the awe-inspiring construction of the pyramids Ð built in 2,580 BC Ð to the modern and gigantic buildings of today. People the world over use paint to protect buildings from the vagaries of climate and to give a personal touch to places of leisure and work. Advances in technology - especially in the past 50 years - have meant that paint can perform these functions increasingly better. Paint manufacturers are asked to supply products for a wide range of substrata, such as wood, plaster, brickwork, concrete, plastic and metal. Paint bonds well with those materials, maintaining their color and protecting them from the sun, wind, rain, cold, ice, high humidity and chemically-aggressive environments. |

Thanks to its history of international partnerships, and in particular to the technological support received from ICI Paints for Civil Construction paints, over the years Robbialac has studied and developed paints to deal with the most adverse climatic conditions while also meeting the utmost decorative demands. Robbialac was the first manufacturer to introduce the new generation of emulsion (plastic) paints into Portugal. It also pioneered the introduction of thixotropic paint and the COLORIZER, the first "decorative" paint-tinting system on the national market. Many years on, after introducing the first generation of tinting systems, in 1994/1995 Robbialac launched its SUPER COLORIZER system, which is based on the latest, cutting-edge coloring and tinting-equipment technology. |
By means of a computerized dispenser, Robbialac can supply over 10,000 colors in a wide range of products. That range covers indoor and outdoor emulsion paint, matt and glossy, solvent paint for exterior walls, enamels and varnishes, with an aqueous or solvent base. For the Consumer, that means an almost unlimited choice of colors. For the Retailer, it means having an enormous array of products and colors available, or of being quickly able to satisfy customers, with a small inventory of products. With the Robbialac SUPER COLORIZER there's always a color to suit everyone. Thousands of owners and tenants rely on Robbialac to protect and decorate their homes. Professionals rely on Robbialac, their technical and marketing teams, and their products, for practically every type of job on every type of building. |

More than being Portugal's favorite brand of paint, Robbialac is one of the benchmark brands known for its quality, innovation and dynamism. Robbialac has always considered quality a fundamental component of its development. With a Total Quality program put in place some years ago, Robbialac has established continuous customer satisfaction as one of it prime goals. The commitment, performance, and endeavor of everyone has helped in what, from the outset, seemed to be a complicated task, so that within a short space of time Robbialac became the first company in its sector to have an NP EN ISO 9000 standard, Quality Assurance System certified by the Portuguese Institute of Quality. Robbialac's Total Quality management is also recognized in other areas of its business. So much so, that for eight years running, from 1992 to 1999, Robbialac was classified by the Portuguese magazine EXAME, DUN & BRADSTREET, and ARTHUR ANDERSEN as "THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY'S BEST COMPANY". No other company, in the ten years since the inception of the EXAME AWARD, has been the subject of so many awards. When all's said and done, that's further proof that Robbialac is on the right path and justified in being "Always Chosen". |
