A Lisbon-based stevedoring and terminal management company, SPC - Serviço Português de Contentores, S.A. provides a wide range of services at seaports, inland terminals, and Lisbon Airport.

Set up on July 9, 1971, our company pioneered the containerisation business in Portugal.

Today, SPC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the multi-service Sapec Group, operating in Portugal and Spain, and acting as that group’s logistics branch. Our mission is to manage privately-owned or concessioned terminals, providing logistical services to third parties.

Currently, SPC's port-related activities are concentrated in Setúbal, just 40 km south of Lisbon.

Elsewhere, we are bidding to take over the running of a multipurpose terminal in Setúbal as part of a consortium led by our affiliate, Navipor.

Meanwhile, SPC provides stevedoring services at its bulk terminal (Terminal de Granéis de Setubal), handling fertilizers and other agribulks.

In addition to port activities, SPC operates a number of intermodal and multipurpose terminals, in the Setúbal, Lisbon and Oporto areas, involved in road and rail distribution services:

Depot Management

Our operations include the survey, repair, handling and storage of containers for land and sea use, as well as the maintenance of lifting and transportation equipment. SPC offers integrated service packages covering all container services in Portugal from its depots in Setúbal, Lisbon and Oporto, which jointly occupy a total area of 200,000m2. A modern and specific IT package means we can monitor all operations, providing real time information to customers.

Warehouse Management

SPC supplies an integrated logistics service that includes stuffing and stripping containers and trucks to/from EU or third country destinations, as well as warehousing, handling, controlling and distributing industrial and consumer goods. We can provide in-house customs control too.

Rail-Road Distribution

All our parks have their own means of transportation and warehousing for loading and unloading containers, trucks and swap bodies. Taking advantage of their rail connections, they have been developing international rail-road transportation.

When, in 2000, and in pursuit of excellence, SPC and the Sapec Group launched LogiC, they did so to bring innovation to the supply of quality integrated logistical services on the Portuguese market.

LogiC has facilities in Póvoa de Stª Iria, Setúbal, Lisbon and Oporto (S. Mamede de Infesta), boasting 40,000m2 of fully-equipped warehouses with racking, mezzanine, handling equipment and radio frequency systems. All backed up by a team of more than 150 qualified professionals.
